Swift shadow pendant and necklace

A beautiful silver double pendant depicting the wondrous swift in flight as if it is chasing it's own shadow! Handmade by us in our studio from solid sterling silver and finished in a high polish. It comes threaded on a sterling silver snake chain.

Dimensions: 15mm nose to tail. 25mm wingspan. On a 46cm silver snake chain (18 inches)

We have a special interest in swifts and have two nestboxes here (one occupied last year). They are the most extraordinary birds. They spend most of their life on the wing, not landing for the first two or three years after fledging. They migrate from central and southern Africa to spend three months with us here in the UK and northern Europe and have been recorded at heights of over 18,000 feet. If the weather is inclement here, they can easily follow thermals over northern Europe for a few days before coming back to feed their fledglings.
